4.1 Organisational Structure
Fountain Art is a wholly Australian-owned company. It has five
departments under the overall supervision of the Managing Director. Each department is responsible for a particular function in the company business. The prime function is the manufacture of garden products for sale, with other departments supporting manufacturing in specialist roles.
Administration Department
The prime function of the Administration Department is to carry out
reception, word processing, mailing and filing and to recruit and manage the
human resource needs of the company. There are three sections and each is
responsible for the smooth running of the business. The clerical section
looks after company records and correspondence, communication and office
equipment. The reception section is responsible for telephone, mail, and
customer relations. Human Resources has responsibility for all employee
matters including occupational health and safety, recruitment and training of
staff.
Accounts
The Accounts Department makes and receives payments on behalf of the
company. Three sections are responsible for general company accounts and for invoicing clients and for the payment of supplies needed in the
manufacture of the company's products.
Manufacturing Department
The manufacture of all company products is the responsibility of the factory manager. The Manufacturing Department consists of three sections:
fountains and ponds, garden ornaments and garden pots. The Department's prime function is to ensure that the production of these goods is sufficient in quality and quantity to meet the demands of clients. The factory is situated at the back of the head office building.
Service Department
The Service Department is responsible for much of the after-sales activity of
the company. Its prime function is to provide quality service in the design,
installation and maintenance of all products manufactured by Fountain Art.
