18.6 Employment Matters

Leave entitlements

Employees are entitled to the following types of leave:

• sick leave: 13 days a year with a medical certificate for more than three consecutive sick leave events

• annual leave: 20 days a year that accrue to a maximum of 40 days

• maternity leave: after 12 months of continuous employment employees are entitled to six weeks of paid maternity leave

Superannuation

All employees are members of the company's superannuation fund. The company's standard contribution for its employees is about 8 per cent of their gross salary. Employees can make additional voluntary contributions.

Resignation

Staff are required to give at least two weeks notice if they intend to resign. Unless adequate notice is given, a deduction may be made from the salary entitlement.

Workers Compensation

All employees are covered by workers compensation while they are at work or away from the main building on company business. This includes accident cover for travel to and from work.

Working Hours and Time Sheets

The standard Fountain Art working day is seven hours. Morning and afternoon tea breaks are ten minutes each. Employees in the main building arrive at 9:00 am and employees in the Service Department. Warehouse staff begin work at 7:30 am. Permission is required before employees can work outside their normal hours.

Each employee has a computerised time sheet that must be completed daily to show start and finish times and lunch break. Time sheets are to be placed in the supervisor's tray for each fortnightly period.

Absences

When an employee is unexpectedly absent, usually because of illness, they must let their supervisor know by 9.30 am on the day of absence so that essential work can be re-assigned or other arrangements made in time.
